7 Accessible Events To Enjoy In June

As we get into the summer months and enjoy warmer temperatures, we share 7 accessible events and activities to get you out and about while keeping the whole family entertained. There is sure to be something for everyone to be involved in and be part of the fun.

1) The British Museum
3rd June - 6pm – 8pm

The Bubble club is a nightclub experience and is designed to be inclusive and accessible for people who are autistic, have a learning disability or mental health condition. The event will feature live music, DJ’s, an open mic stage and much more. To book your place, follow the link Relaxed evening event: Bubble Club at the Museum | British Museum.

Accessibility
The Museum welcomes all visitors and offers a range of accessible facilities for disabled visitors. 

  • Lifts – The venue has lifts and most are wheelchair accessible.
  • Wheelchair hire - If you would like to book a manual wheelchair, this can be pre-booked free of charge. To book a wheelchair, email tickets@britishmuseum.org.
  • Disabled parking – This can be done through their ticketing team, please email tickets@britishmuseum.org, or call 020 7323 8181. If you would like to discuss your access needs you can email access@britishmuseum.org, or call 020 7323 8971 from Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.

2) The Natural History Consortium
Festival of Nature - Go with the Flow Writing Workshop
7th June - 15th June


If you love nature and enjoy the outdoors, the Natural History Consortium hosts the Festival of Nature. They have put together a number of online and in-person events for disabled people through out this month. The events have been organised by disabled adults and children so there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy and be part of celebrating nature. The first event starts on the 7th of June. 3) Underwater Dance Party
We Are Curious
14th June 11.15 -12.15pm - Bristol

We are Curious is an event hosted by the Festival of Nature and has been created for disabled children of all abilities and those with illnesses and their families who can enjoy the experience of dancing like a dolphin and goldfish  on the dancefloor Underwater Dance Party with Flamingo Chicks.

Accessibility
The room is located on the second floor and can be accessed via lift.

  • Tickets: They offer free admission for personal assistance and these can be booked online or over the phone. Wheelchair spaces are available, but these need to be booked with your day ticket.
  • Parking: The venue offers 22 disabled parking bays in the Millennium square car park. There are lifts available in the car park and the venue entrance is step-free.
  • Wheelchair hire: The venue has two wheelchairs available. On arrival, please go to the welcome desk.
  • Lifts: These are available on each floor.

4) The Great Exhibition Road Festival
7th & 8th June 12pm - 6pm - South Kensington 


This event celebrates science and the arts with free events for all ages. They will host creative workshops, talks and shows. To see what’s on, follow the link Home - The Great Exhibition Road Festival.

The event also hosts a relaxed session in their Family Fun Zone from 11am – 12pm, for families with neurodivergent children or adults who have sensory needs. It’s a more calmer and relaxed atmosphere. It’s a chance to join scientists and do experiments, play games and join in with arts and crafts. 5) Trafalgar Square
Eid celebrations - 8th June

Eid Ul Adha will be celebrated, beginning on Friday, the 6th of June. This is celebrated to mark the end of Hajj a sacred annual pilgrimage performed in the holy city of Mecca, Saudia Arabia, by Muslims around the world. It's compulsory for those who are physically and financially able to undertake the journey. To mark the end of Hajj, Eid is celebrated with prayers, food and giving to charity with organisations putting on their own events.

The Mayor of London’s FREE annual festival welcomes everyone to Trafalgar Square to celebrate EID, which is now in it’s 20th edition. The main stage will feature a mix of traditional and contemporary performances, comedy, percussion, and creative writing, workshops, food, and more.

Accessibility
Traflagur Square is accessible from the southern entrance to disabled visitors and there are benches around for people to sit and rest. There are accessible toilets as well.

6) National Space Centre
8th June 3pm – 6pm


If your children love to learn about space and the world we live in, the National Space Centre hosts accessible afternoons this month. It’s been set up for children and young adults with additional needs who can enjoy the experience and what the centre has to offer in a quieter and relaxed environment. Accessibility

The venue is accessible to everyone and they provide a range of facilities for disabled visitors, including:

  • Disabled parking is available for a cost of £4 for the full day
  • Disabled toilets are available throughout the venue
  • Concession tickets are available for disabled visitors and you can add a free companion ticket when booking. Proof of disability is required to get the companion ticket
  • Wheelchairs are available to loan free of charge for visitors (depending on availability)
  • Large print is available on request

 7) SME XPO
18th & 19th June - Excel London


Join the SME XPO, an exhibition dedicated to to SME businesses and founders who are looking to scale their business. This is a great opportunity to network and gain insights into the latest solutions for growing your business. The event will host over 5000 business owners and over 125 suppliers. Accessibility

Reset rooms

Events can get busy and if crowds are not something you are comfortable with. You can use their reset rooms away from the crowd to take a break.

For those with invisible disabilities, the organisers have a limited number of sunflower laynards that are available at the information desk and in their reset rooms.

Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available to use at the venue for those with mobility needs

Accessible toilets and changing places 
The venue has 40 accessible toilets throughout the building
