7 Accessible Events To Enjoy In November

Remember, remember the 5th of November, is the month of Guy Fowkes night and many parks around London will be putting on fireworks displays. If you are not a fan of the fireworks and are looking for something more relaxing, we have you covered with our list of 7 accessible and inclusive events for the whole family to enjoy.

1) Fireworks display
Battersea Park, London
2nd and 3rd November

Accessibility

Tickets

Disabled visitors need to purchase a general admission ticket in order to get a free companion ticket. You will need to provide proof of disability and your booking reference before you get your tickets.

Accessible Viewing Platform

You will need to book an accessible space in advance and priority will be given to wheelchair users and those less able to stand.

Disabled toilets

Two accessible toilets are available close to the viewing platform and there are others, which are available in the main toilet blocks.

Disabled parking

They have a limited number of disabled bays and are available on a first-come, first serve basis.

2) The Sothbank Centre
Elmer Adventure
Running until 3rd November

The Southbank Centre hosts some free and paid accessible events throughout the year, from music, art and dance for the whole family to enjoy. Running until the 3rd of November, children can enjoy a relaxed performance of the Elemr Adventure. This is a musical adapted from the book and the character comes to life through songs, storytelling and puppets. Accessibility

They offer a free access scheme for deaf and disabled visitors so you can make the most of what the centre has to offer during your visit. To find out more, follow the link Access Scheme | Southbank Centre.

The venue offers disabled parking with 3 Blue badge parking spaces, offered on a first come first serve basis and they are  located on the Queen Elizabeth Hall slip road.

3) World Travel Market London
Excel London
5th - 7th November

If you love to travel, why not visit the World Travel Market in London, which will be taking place over 3 days at Excel London. They will have a number of exhibitors showcasing their services from around the world. It’s a great opportunity to network and build connections in the world of travel. Accessibility

Reset rooms

Events can get busy and if crowds are not something you are comfortable with you can use their reset rooms away from the crowd to take a break.

For those with invisible disabilities the organisers have a limited number of sunflower laynards that are available at the information desk and in their reset rooms.

Wheelchairs are available to use at the venue for those with mobility needs

Accessible toilets and changing places 

The venue has 40 accessible toilets throughout the building

4) Ability Net Tech Share Pro Conference
HSBC Canary Wharf
13th November 9am – 8pm and 14th Nov 9am – 7.30pm

Join Ability Net for their annual Tech Share Pro Conference, hosted by HSBC. This is Europe’s largest event for those in the inclusion and accessibility community. This is a two day event where attendees will learn about the importance of accessibility, disability inclusion and hear from world’s leading brands on disability representation, accessibility in media, working with disabled people and much more. The event can be attended online or in person.

Accessibility

  • If attending in person step free access is available within the HSBC building with accessible toilet facilities.
  • Hoist facilities are available with Revoloo on site
  • Real time captions will be available for all sessions on screen and a link to be able to access it on your own device.
  • British sign language will be provided for all the sessions
  • A quiet room is available for those who might need it
  • For those who are blind or visually impaired a sight guide or buddy can be arranged by the organisers.

5) Science Museum
     Night Owls 
     23rd November - 6.30pm - 9.30pm 

The Science Museum hosts Night Owls, an event dedicated to those with sensory needs. It runs on selected dates across the year. The event is free to attend but booking is required. To find out more, follow the link  Night Owls | Science Museum

Accessibility

The museum offers carer tickets for some of their paid activities and exhibitions. In order to get one you have to email info@sciencemuseumgroup.ac.uk with your order number for the standard ticket, or you can call their contact centre on 0330 058 0058 to book.

The venue has a limited number of disabled parking bays available. Their lifts have audio announcements and braille labels on the buttons.

6) The Cake and Bake Show
Olympia London 
27th November - 10am - 5pm

If you enjoy baking, Olympia London will be a hosting the Cake and Bake Show. It’s a chance to learn from professional pastry chefs and chocolatiers. Tickle those taste buds and enjoy delicious freshly baked sweet treats, from cakes, brownies and much more.  This event will be running from the 27th November until the 1st of December.

7) Ideal Home Show Christmas
Olympia London 
27th November - 10am - 5pm 

Are you looking for some ideas and inspiration to buy or renovate your current home?

Why not visit the Ideal home exhibition and get into the festive spirit at Olympia London. A number of retailers will be showcasing their collections for inspiration, from gifts, decorations and different interior designs for your perfect dream home. This event will be running from the 27th of November until the 1st of December.

Disabled parking

Blue badge parking bays are offered on a first come first serve basis and is best to pre – book even though the space is not guaranteed but it will ensure that you have a space. All disabled parking is charged and it’s best to contact the venue to find out.

Manual wheelchairs

If you need to use a wheelchair while at the venue they offer wheelchairs to loan. It’s best to book your request in advance of your visit by completing the contact form on their website Contact us | Olympia Events. You will need to give a deposit, which will be refunded.
